How to Work with Portal Quartz (aka. Time Link)
Ever notice a small window on the face of your quartz crystal?
If it’s a parallelogram (see pics below), it may very well be a time link, making your quartz crystal a very special portal quartz.
Years ago I fell in love with the magic of portal quartzes – they can you places! The past, the present, the future….
The teachings I have been receiving (and sharing in my Istaria Crystallis™) is that crystals are keys: they create light bridges in time/space, they open up portals and gateways to other realms, they connect us with higher beings who can help us by providing healing energy and guidance.
There are so many ways of working with crystals, limited really only by our imagination, and portal quartz is a great teacher for us in this respect.
So, let’s look at portal quartz a little more deeply:
Why Is It Called A Portal Quartz Or Time Link?
Portal quartz is also called at time link, or a key, because it opens up access to other realms or times in history, the present, or the future.
It can link to memory, ancient civilizations, ancestors, or past lives.
It can open up our access to the future, where we can gaze into what’s coming, what’s being created, as well as what we can learn.
And it can provide for us deeper insight and illumination into the present and present circumstances, like what’s happening in another part of the world, or provide more understanding as to what’s really going on in a relationship.
Note: I’m a great believer in the Law of Free Will and honoring people’s privacy, so know I won’t teach you how to remotely view or spy on another with a crystal!
Types Of Portal Quartzes
There are different teachings based on your lineage or system of belief, so what I’ll share with you here is what I’ve learned – you can take what resonates for you and leave the rest.
Left Time Link:
A portal or parallelogram leaning to the left of your crystal (when holding it facing towards you) activates the right hemisphere of your brain.
This helps to energize or strengthen your creativity, intuition, emotions or emotional intelligence, and memory.
Left time links also connect you with the past, nature, the Fae realm, mystery, magical working, the shadow realm, and the left-hand path (this last one is left largely up to interpretation based on your lineage, system of belief, and magical training).
Right Time Link:
A portal or parallelogram leaning to the right of your crystal (when holding it facing towards you) activates the left hemisphere of your brain.
This helps to energize or strengthen your linear thinking, intelligence, cognition, logic, reasoning, as well as aptitude for math, sciences, and technology.
Right time links also connect you with the future, divination, advanced teachings/philosophies/ideas, inspiration, coming technologies or world events. It also opens a portal or light bridge to the celestial realm, and higher divine light or light beings who can be helpful to you.
Centered Time Links:
A portal or parallelogram that is centered can be worked with to access the past, the present, or the future. It can open gateways to all space/time and consciousness, based on the intention of your working.
It also helps to balance both hemispheres of your brain, the masculine/feminine energies of your mind body, and provide deeper insight or understanding into what’s happening in your present.
How To Work With Portal Quartz
A simple method to activate a portal quartz is this: hold it in your receptive hand and gently rub the portal with your thumb.
Sit and hold your thumb over the portal, and allow yourself to drop into a meditative state.
Rub your thumb towards you over the time link to open the portal, and when you’re finished rub thumb away from you over the time link to close the portal. This is based on arcane knowledge and helps to close and seal the portal upon completion.
What Happens If The Portal Doesn’t Open For You?
The general understanding is that if it doesn’t open for you, it’s either that:
It’s not the right crystal or portal for you
It’s not for you at this time
You have to trust your intuition on this. In some cases, it could also be that the portal has been programmed or charmed by someone, and can only be opened by that someone, or through more advanced crystal or magical workings.
What to do? The crystal can remain in your keeping, or you can gift it to someone else, or return it to the Earth.
